Pärnu: Guide
Parnawa (ros. Пярну, Estonii, położone nad Morze Bałtyckie|Morzem Bałtyckim, stolica prowincja Pärnu|prowincji Pärnu. Liczba mieszkańców wynosi 44 tys. Przez Parnawę przepływa rzeka o tej samej nazwie.
Miasto jest głównym ośrodkiem turystycznym w Estonii. Do wypoczynku zachęcają długie piaszczyste plaże i atrakcyjne położenie na brzegu zatoki morskiej. Turystyczne walory Parnawy zaczęto wykorzystywać już w pierwszej połowie XIX wieku.
W mieście znajduje się szereg zabytków. M.in. fragmenty murów obronnych z basztami (XIV-XVI w.), kościoły z XVIII w. i liczne budynki z XIX i początku XX w.
Parnawa została założona w 1241 przez Zakon Kawalerów Mieczowych. Należała do Hanza|Hanzy. Od 1561 w granicach Rzeczypospolitej, od 1598 stolica województwo parnawskie|województwa parnawskiego (istniało formalnie do 1660). W 1617, po wojnach o Inflanty miasto, wraz z Estonią przypadło Szwecja|Szwecji. Do Rosja|Rosji należało od czasu jej zwycięstwa w wojna północna|wojnie północnej (1721) do ogłoszenia niepodległości przez Estonię w 1918.
