Historia

Cahors mia bogatą historię sięgającą czasów celtyckich. W średniowieczu miasto był miejscem schronienia wielu bankierów, którzy pożyczali pieniądze. Kościół w tych czasach był temu przeciwny i ścigał ich. Z tego powodu Cahors okryło się niesławą, a Dante Alighieri w Boska komedia|Boskiej komedii wymienił miasto, obok Sodoma|Sodomy, jako najbardziej grzeszne.

W Cahors urodził się papież Jan XXII.

Zabytki

Most Valentré, który jest symbolem miasta został zbudowany w latach 1308-1378. Został on uznany za most diabła. Kiedy most był odtwarzany w 1879 architekt Paul Gout umieścił na szczycie jednej z baszt skupulturę "diabeł".
