Cardiff (Wielkiej Brytanii, stolica i największe miasto Walia|Walii. Jest położone nad rzeką Taff, u jej ujścia do Kanał Bristolski|Kanału Bristolskiego.
Powstało jako osiedle Starożytny Rzym|rzymskie z I wiek|I-II wieku, później rozbudowane przez Normanowie|Normanów.
Znajduje się w historycznym hrabstwie Glamorgan, ale od roku 1996 tworzy osobne hrabstwo Cardiff. Pierwotnie było to małe miasto, którego bardzo szybki rozwój, tak samo jak całego pobliskiego regionu, przypada na XIX wiek|XIX wiek. Miasto rozwinęło się dzięki transportowi węgiel kamienny|węgla kamiennego z pobliskich kopalni. Stolicą Walii został 20 grudnia 1955 r.
Port Cadiff|Port w Cardiff, znany jako Tiger Bay, był przez wiele lat jednym z największych portów na świecie.
Pod koniec nowy stadion sportowy, który jest obecnie jednym z największych tego typu obiektów w Europie.
Cardiff Bay (Zatoka Cardiff)
Zatoka Cardiff Bay została trwale odgrodzona od Kanału Bristolskiego. Dlatego też w zatoce nie występują przypływy i odpływy. Dzięki temu w rejonie Cardiff Bay powstało wiele pubów, restauracji, jak również i wybudowano przystań dla żaglówek i łódek. Kursują także wodne autobusy, którymi można odbyć wycieczkę po akwenie Cardiff Bay, odwiedzić pobliskie Penarth, czy też nawet popłynąć w kierunku miasta i wysiąść w pobliżu stadionu.
Rozrywka
W Cardiff znajduje się Muzeum Narodowe, kilka pięknych parków (m.in. Roath Park and Bute Park), zamek, nowoczesny budynek opery w Cardiff Bay (Millenium Centre). Co roku w lipcu organizowany jest Cardiff Festival, podczas którego cały Cathays Park (w pobliżu Muzem Narodowego) wypełniony jest wszelkiego rodzaju rozrywkami: karuzele, diabelski młyn, słodycze, zabawki, itd. W tym samym miejscu każdego roku zimą ustawiane jest sztuczne lodowisko.
W pobliżu zamku leży ulica Queen Street, która jest zamknięta dla ruchu kołowego i na której znajduje się wiele centrów handlowych. Pobliska ulica St. Mary Street jest z kolei osią rozrywki - znajduje się na niej kilkanaście pubów i klubów.
Komunikacja
W Cardiff istnieje sieć autobusów miejskich, kilka stacji kolejowych (Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen Street, Cardiff Cathays). Oczywiście popularne są taksówki, ale mogą one być nieosiągalne w nocnych godzinach weekendowych.

Od 2001 na Millennium Stadium odbywają się w mieście zawody o Grand Prix Wielkiej Brytanii w sporcie żużlowym|Grand Prix Wielkiej Brytanii.
